Calle & Free The Game
Expanding access to Football culture in the US
2020 – Present
Location: Saint Louis + Salt Lake City + Online Retail
What do most of the greatest Soccer(football) players have in common in their lives? — they played pick up games in the neighborhood(s) they lived in growing up. With minimal equipment needs, This sport is arguably the most accessible sport to play almost everywhere in the world due. What’s stopping us from making it so in the U.S as well? With this ethos driving our collaboration and partnership, we worked with Calle to implement the US’ first ever public-facing futsal art courts starting with our friends in Dutchtown, St. Louis.

Hosting a conversation with Travis Winn & Daniel Flynn, creators of an initiative called "Free the Game"on our podcast, “DesignedByPod". Their mission is to liberate the game of soccer from a system in which it costs way too much money to play with not enough reward in America. The theory: If kids have unlimited access to the game, then they'll be great at it. Stars like Lionel Messi, Zinedine Zidane, and more are true testaments to this.
There's a key distinction with Free The Game as well as Calle, The brand under which Free The Game lives: Art and creativity needs to be incorporated at all times. With Courts in Salt Lake City and St. Louis, they're well on the way to doing something truly remarkable!
